Photography Work, Satuday October 18th, 2008

My day spent taking photographs of a yard sale, laundry hanging, mailboxes and the graveyard has inspired me to start working in the realm of collage in the studio. Mr. Huffman's name handwritten on his mail box as well as the bullet hole in the side of it speaks about contemporary rural America... I particularly like Margorie's installation of rags hung by clothespins from Christmas lights strung across the yard to make a clothesline. Margorie was fine if I took pictures, as long as I was not with the law or Federal Government and if the images were not to be used for any detriment. The yard sale and the laundry hanging embodies the idea of an installation of women working on their day off...each person at the yard sale made about $200 dollars that day and got rid of things they did not need. Margorie got some laundry done and was puzzled by my thinking of her laundry and her work as beautiful.
